Ask most of our retirees, and they will agree that it’s hard to say goodbye. That’s why Nina Sinnott chose to step away from her role as the Director of Marketing and Communications two years ago, before she decided to retire at the end of this school year.
Mrs. Sinnott joined the Communications team 20 years ago and quickly demonstrated her exceptional gift for storytelling and strategic communications. She was appointed Associate Director of Communications in 2011 and two years later became the Director of Marketing and Communications.
For the next 10 years, she masterfully guided the School through numerous milestones, magazine redesigns, website changes, special projects, and a comprehensive rebranding initiative that helped shape McDonogh's identity as we know it today. Her thoughtful approach, unwavering integrity, attention to detail, and genuine care for our community have left an indelible mark on the School.
With a steady hand and clear vision, Mrs. Sinnott shared our community's stories with authenticity and impact. She also took great care in growing the department, ensuring the team could serve the School’s strategic goals. Though often behind the scenes, her work under the leadership of Charlie Britton and Dave Farace was exceptional.
Throughout her tenure, she helped guide the School through some of its greatest challenges. From crafting sensitive messages and coordinating complex communications to adapting to the ever-changing media landscape, she managed each situation thoughtfully. Her calm and collaborative approach undoubtedly helped safeguard and elevate the School’s reputation within the McDonogh community and beyond.
Although she stepped away from the lead role two years ago, Mrs. Sinnott has remained an integral part of the Communications Team as a content writer, primarily devoted to enhancing the School’s website. She is the “queen of commas” and can spot misplaced punctuation from a mile away.
A colleague to all and a friend to many, Nina, your legacy will continue to influence how we share our McDonogh story for years to come. We wish you much joy in your well-deserved retirement.
