Earth Day in the Middle School

Middle School marked Earth Day on Wednesday, April 22, with a full day of hands-on environmental activities across campus. Students planted trees, constructed birdhouses, and painted wooden figurines for an art installation in Doyle's Woods. They also created environmental awareness posters, walked campus trails, and took a mindful minute at the duck pond.

At Roots Farm, sixth graders participated in an immersive learning experience connecting pollinator science, food systems, and environmental stewardship. Students explored bee behavior and honey production, then applied what they learned by planting a living pollinator garden.

Through a Greatest Good McDonogh initiative, seventh graders partnered with the Coastal Conservation Association for the first day of an oyster reef build. The project gave students direct experience in coastal restoration and marine ecosystem science, with more work ahead to finish the concrete molds. Happy Earth Day to all!
