General Summary

The Lower School is seeking part time staff members to cover recess and early childhood rest duties daily during the school year, from late August through early June. Individuals should be warm, nurturing, and effective problem-solvers. Experience with elementary-age students is required. Some training will be provided.

Essential Functions

• Promoting appropriate activities and an environment in which students interact in a fun and safe manner
• Fostering the physical, social, and emotional development of students
• Encouraging and facilitating teamwork, cooperation, leadership, and conflict resolution
• Guiding children in working and playing harmoniously with other children
• Alerting the teachers and/or administration to the special needs of individual children

Working Conditions

Occasional lifting and carrying of equipment or supplies up to 25 pounds may be required. Staff are expected to actively supervise children by walking and moving continuously around classrooms, playgrounds, and campus spaces, often responding quickly to children's needs and emergencies. The position involves extended periods of standing and walking, frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, reaching, balancing, climbing stairs, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions. This is a physically demanding, highly active role that requires employees to remain alert, mobile, and engaged throughout the day.
