McDonogh Victory in 99th Game Against Gilman

Congratulations to the varsity football team for a thrilling win over Gilman in overtime on Saturday, November 8. With minutes to go at the end of the fourth quarter, the Eagles were down 14-7. "The boys fought back, stopped Gilman, got the ball back and marched down the field to tie," describes Athletic Director Mickey Deegan. "Then, the Eagles recovered a Hound fumble and came back down the field. Going for the winning field goal, we were stopped...forcing overtime."

She continues, "The Eagles won the coin toss and started on their 20 yard line...running the ball into the end zone and getting the extra point 21-14. Then, it was Gilman's turn on the 20 yard...we knew they would run and they did, but the Eagles forced a fumble and recovered the ball...stunning the Gilman fans."

"The McDonogh community stormed the field...cheering our boys and coaches for winning the most exciting Gilman vs. McDonogh game in years," Deegan concluded.
