Campus Parents

Campus parents bring boarders into their homes one evening a week for fun. Many campus families also share boarder dinner with the students.

For an hour between study hall and check-in every Thursday, groups of 10-12 boarders visit their campus parents’ homes. The campus parents plan a wide variety of activities including board games, cookouts, and football nights, among others. Campus families and the boarders enjoy the opportunity to bond and to form new friendships.

The setting of home, values, rules, favorite snacks, down time, conversation, debate, and interaction with children younger and older allow students to see that we are different, yet here for the same purpose: to make sure each person gets the opportunity to have a voice, to learn, and to live in this community.

Thursday was by far the best thing about boarding. I honestly considered boarding through spring term just so that I could continue with campus parent gatherings.
