Statement of Equity and Inclusion

Founded on the principle of respect, a virtue emphasized in the Character Compass, McDonogh School strives to create a community in which trust is fostered and demonstrated by students who listen, question, and challenge, thereby developing a strong sense of identity and a high regard for the value and breadth of differences in its families, its region, and the world. The school affirms diversity as a positive and essential component of an education. School members recognize that diversity includes, but is not limited to, culture, gender, sexual orientation, age, traditions, beliefs, physical attributes, and access to resources. Diversity is addressed in the curriculum, and reinforced in developmentally appropriate ways through special events and extracurricular activities that enable students to value themselves as individuals while preparing them to participate with pride and confidence in a complex society.
