Campus Master Plan Update

Phase I of the school's campus master plan is complete.

  • The Naylor Building for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math which serves Upper School students opened in August 2013.
  • The Edward St. John Student Center opened in April 2014. The student center features two dining halls, as well as a lecture hall with stage, fine arts and dance facilities, the infirmary, offices, and meeting rooms.
  • The expansive Rosenberg Campus Green, which links the new buildings with the historic campus center of Memorial Court, the Louis E. Lamborn Alumni Memorial Field House, and the Rollins-Luetkemeyer Athletic Center, opened in the fall of 2014.
  • A new central energy plant; Lamborn Road (formerly Woods Road) entrance, with a traffic signal on McDonogh Road; and new parking lots make the campus more accessible and help it to operate more efficiently.

Each school (Lower, Middle, Upper) is housed in its own buildings with a library, technology centers, science laboratories, and art facilities.

Arts Facilities

The Clarence A. Burck Center for the Performing Arts includes the 580-seat Ceres M. Horn Theatre, the Black Box Theatre, a scene shop, a band room, and classroom space for drama and music. The Klein Lyceum in the Edward St. John Student Center seats 170 and provides a more intimate space for lectures and performances.

The Tuttle Art Gallery provides a forum for artists to show their work to both the McDonogh community and the public at large. Located in the Edward St. John Student Center, it also exposes McDonogh students to contemporary art and the chance to learn firsthand from the artists. At various times during the academic year, students from each division display their own artwork in the Tuttle Gallery as well.

Multiple music, art, and dance studios can be found around campus.

Athletic Facilities

The Rollins-Luetkemeyer Athletic Center includes a multipurpose area for indoor athletics, a wrestling room, a classroom, an Athletic Hall of Fame, and The Henry A. Rosenberg Jr. Aquatic Center, complete with an eight-lane, 50-meter pool.

McDonogh recently added an all-weather artificial turf field and renovated the baseball field. The school's outdoor facilities include a 5,000-seat stadium with lights, 21 tennis courts, 18 fields, and a 400-meter track.

Equestrian facilities include a state-of-the-art indoor riding arena, a 70-stall barn, three outdoor riding rings, two indoor rings, and 25 paddocks for "horseplay." Also included is a McDonogh Riding Museum. The facility hosts approximately 25 horse shows per year.
