E. Carey Kenney's McDonogh

E. Carey Kenney was head of the McDonogh art department from 1947-1980. Over his 33 years teaching and 60 years painting on this beautiful campus, Colonel Kenney produced a body of work that showcases McDonogh.

Thanks to the generosity of alumni and others, the school has produced a book of his artwork: E. Carey Kenney’s McDonogh. The hard-backed, cloth-covered, full-colored volume of over 100 pages contains paintings of the Memorial Field House mural, historical panels, portraits, sketches, and landscapes, plus the Colonel’s philosophy of teaching and art.

Because the book was funded by donations from alumni and friends, all proceeds from sales of this limited run will go towards an art scholarship in Colonel Kenney’s memory, to assist recommended McDonogh students in attending a week-long, pre-college summer class at the Maryland Institute College of Art.

The book is available, as long as the 400 copies last, through the McDonogh Archives at a cost of $79.50 each, including tax, plus $10.00 shipping if necessary. Please contact MaryLu Greenwood at mgreenwood@mcdonogh.org or by phone at 410.581.4758 to make arrangements to purchase your copy.
