Signature Societies Celebrate Philanthropy

More than 60 Members of the McDonogh Fund's Signature Societies enjoyed a special luncheon celebrating their philanthropy at The Cove at Citron in Baltimore on Thursday, April 4. After mixing and mingling, Head of School Dave Farace '87 welcomed attendees and expressed gratitude for their commitment to McDonogh School.

Guest speaker Greg Bernstein '07, a General Partner at Acequia Capital, described how his McDonogh experience prepared him for his career leading strategy, building and investing in technology companies, and seeking to solve the world’s toughest challenges. "The lessons learned from my time at McDonogh have deeply informed the way that I think about and seek to make sense of the crazy, dynamic, and remarkable world that we live in. It is the work that I do every day," he shared.

Reflecting on his time as a student, Bernstein continues to believe in the power of a McDonogh education to equip graduates for the future and prepare them to be a force for good in the world. "I am renewed that the ethos of McDonogh persists. I take heart knowing that McDonogh is worth defending and preserving. It is education with intention - that intention is to be an active participant in a life worth living. That ethos took hold in me, so many of my peers, and the generations that came before us."
